Blog Swap Day

Today, I have switched blogs with another writer, Maxie, for the day to be a part of Blog Swap Day 3 on 20 Something Bloggers. So enjoy and go check out my post on her blog

Hello y'all! My name is Maxie and I normally write over at I Hate So Much... (http://www.ihatesomuch.com)

In the spirit of blog swap and such I thought I should write about something I hate since that's the title of my blog and all.

What am I hating today? Growing up.

I know that's a pretty big topic to hate so I'll go ahead an narrow it down. I hate that I'm supposedly an "adult" now and I have to go to work every day and act all serious. I've been slowly trying to make the transition over the past two years, but just last week I realized how many little things you have to sacrifice for the sake of growing up.

Last week I lost my coffee cup to that battle.

In high school my mom got me a really cute pink coffee cup that said "chicks rule" on it. It also featured a little chicken and was overall quite adorable.

Last week I had a meeting scheduled with a bunch of co-workers and some people from an outside company so I grabbed my coffee cup and headed to the table. It was only then I realized that everyone else had their coffee in a stainless steel coffee thermos or a plain black coffee cup.

Obviously no one said anything, but I hate showing my age because I'm at least 20 years younger than all of my co-workers. The next meeting I brought my boring black coffee cup.

Being a grown up sucks.

Jason just got me a coffee mug with a cartoon wiener dog lounging in a hot dog bun on it. I'd like to tell you that no one laughed at me, but I would be lying.

I'm the youngest in this newsroom - and entire news office - by about 10 years, and I have no problem with people knowing it. There's a Joe Paterno bendy doll on my desk, a stuffed animal from my boyfriend and yes, even a "Dumb Dares for the Office" calendar.

Conformity isn't fun, and if people know you're young anyway, why bother growing up faster than we need to?

Be proud of your cup!!! You're not old and boring like the rest of them, embrace it!

Darling my mug was a gift for my birthday and its all things Twilight, if nothing else this proves to my entire office that the person responsible for planning their 30 odd events is actually a 13 year old little girl. I say rock out with your chick mug. Its you, who cares if they give you the stink eye every once in a while.

is it like that in the states? Pure appearance? :(
I know it would make you less serious, but would it make you a worse and untrustworthy (dunno if that word exist...) employee? isn't there a way you can keep your mug and show´em bastards that you are the shit???? :D
